South Florida VA Foundation for Research & Education

Board of Directors

      The South Florida Veterans Affairs Foundation for Research and Education Statutory Board of Directors consists of:  Paul D. Magalian, Acting Miami VA Medical Center Director; John Vara, M.D,. Chief of Staff; and Robert M. Jackson, M.D., Associate Chief of Staff for Research and Chairman of the Board and Robert D. Shapiro, D.D.S., Associate Chief of Staff for Education. Four other Directors rotate on an annual basis. Currently, the VA representatives are Guy A. Howard, Ph.D., and Leopoldo Raij, M.D. The non-VA representatives are Norman L. Block, M.D. and Sherrill H. Hayes, Ph.D.  Our two Foundation Officers are the Executive Director (currently vacant) and Ana U. Valls, Board Secretary.
